THE CNGF and Middlebrook Gardens
Middlebrook Gardens, supervised by Alrie Middlebrook, specializes in native garden landscapes that “reflect the natural beauty of California, conserve precious natural resources and link the urban landscape closer to nature” (Middlebrook Gardens, n.d.). At its heart, Middlebrook Gardens is a landscape company focused on design and maintenance, with emphases in ecology-based landscaping, native plants, environmentally friendly products and water conservation. The company also seeks to assist its customers in reducing their carbon footprint through native plant gardening. As their website further discusses, “native gardens are a great way to take a first step to improve the environment and beautify your home” (Middlebrook Gardens, n.d.).
Middlebrook Gardens seeks to address the topic of environmental degradation through regenerative and organic farming, youth-led events, and a number of environmentally sustainable projects. These projects include, but are not limited to, aquaponics systems, gray-water systems, composting systems, stormwater capture systems, and the like. While they have established projects in most of these categories, Middlebrook Gardens is in need of support in improving upon these spaces, as well as furthering their mission through youth workshops.
