Community Partner Visit #5: Minutes
On May 28th, our team stopped by Middlebrook Gardens to move media into the new bed and finish testing our redesigned water filter-pump. We also spent some time finalizing our educational material for the aquaponics system.

Our team was able to finish moving three wheelbarrows (half of a truck bed) full of mixed red lava rock and expanded clay pebble media from the Hester Garden to the Middlebrook Gardens location and into the unfilled IBC. We also spent some time trimming back the plant growth and vegetation near the IBC so that larger plants can be grown with access to plenty of sunlight. Images shown below display this process! After the media is transferred, Alrie and her volunteers plan to plant either spinach and arugula or tomatoes in the new media bed.

Additionally, our team finalized our educational components: two brochures, one tailored towards teenage students and one tailored towards younger students, an aquaponics cycle fill-in-the-blank, and two aquaponics word-search games! They are pictured below.
