Team Meeting: May 14

On May 14th, our team gave our Status Update Presentation, which you can find linked under Formal Documents.

Additionally, on May 14th, we finalized our first filter design, pictured below. We plan to begin prototyping in the coming week, so that a final design revision can be made and implemented by Tuesday, May 28th.

May 28th Update:

Problems:

  1. Holes were either not big enough or were closed off, restricting water flow

  2. Difficult to sustainably cap the ends of the tube structure

Secondary Considerations: Various nets or a new mesh bag could work, but would likely have to be cleaned just as often and would possibly be even more difficult to implement

Secondary Design: A rigid structure inside of the (cleaned) existing filter bag with double layered, rigid plastic mesh

  • One static ring holds the mesh bag away from the point of intake for the pump

  • Even pressure stops collapse of the bag in the water

  • Thick fishing line or dental floss to sew in the plastic mesh ring
